Very soon!

Summer classes end this Tuesday as I have two finals that day....Spanish 2 and a final for my internship (which is just a review of Synoptic). I have worked hard this Summer in Spanish 2 and I am going to make a B in the class! Woohoo!!

I have also been working at the bookstore this past summer and it has been crazy busy as we have moved to our newly renovated store. Everyday we have new product coming in and we have to race to get it to the floor to sell. We are gearing up for our grand opening in August!

The busy part of my summer is almost over and my relaxing part is near! I will be heading to Charleston in a week, for two weeks. Can't wait!

Until next time...

"Captain America: First Avenger" Review

Yesterday I saw Captain America with my Dad. I didn't go in with much expectations as I am personally not a fan of the super-hero....he seems quite boring to me. My expectations were met!

The plot was good but they took too long to explain some things making me bored. It all led up to this big fight between Red Skull and Capt and the fight was quite disappointing. The effects were good and the transformation of Captain America was great!

The most exciting part to me was the scene after the credits. As with all of the Marvel movies thus far, there has been a scene after the credits that lead up to The Avengers movie coming out next May! It was amazing and it was worth seeing Captain America just so you can see that preview.

In case you can't tell, I did not like Captain America. Overall I give it a C-.

Favorite Animation Movie

Now onto my favorite category: Animation Movies!!

If you know me, then you know I'm a huge Disney fan and of course Disney is known for their animation movies starting with Snow White up to Cars 2 and to future movies. You are probably thinking that I am going to biased and just say my favorite Disney movies (hmm.....might be my next post) but you are wrong! Recently Disney/Pixar has had some competition from Dreamworks, Paramount, and others have produced some great animation movies.

I will say that my top 5 is mostly Disney though and everybody should know from my facebook and twitter pages that my favorite movie is Toy Story and that is my favorite animation movie!

Here is my top 5 though:

1. Toy Story Franchise (include all 3)
2. Hercules
3. Prince of Egypt
4. Shrek Franchise (include all 4)
5. Monsters vs Aliens

So what is your favorite animation movie? Do you prefer Disney over the other companies?

I hope you enjoyed this "favorites" series! I had fun thinking about my favorite movies!

Favorite Drama Movie

I wonder which genre is bigger, action or drama??

I'll start right off the back and say that I'm going to exclude 'chick flicks'. I do like history drama movies such as Pearl Harbor. I also do like some, not all, sports drama movies.

So, my favorite drama movie is The Blind Side...I'm a huge Sandra Bullock fan!

Here is my top 5 drama movies:

1. The Blind Side
2. Twister
3. The Mighty Ducks
4. Remember the Titans
5. That Thing You Do

What is your favorite drama movie?

Favorite Comedy Movie

Yo! Wuz up? Guess what? Hold your breath.....it's time to reveal my favorite comedy movie!

I really don't have to think about this one but if I had to think about it, this would be my thought process:

First of all I do NOT like comedy movies such as Bad Teacher, Superbad, etc. I like to call this movies, "dirty" comedy movies, as they like to use sex and such to make people laugh. I like clean comedy movies such as Evan Almighty.

Therefore my favorite comedy movie is Mrs. Doubtfire! I absolutely love that movie....it cracks me up every time!

Honorable mentions include Evan Almighty, Jumanji, & Miss Congeniality.

What is your favorite comedy movie?

Favorite Action Movie

What a broad genre! It seems that every other movie that comes out, is considered an action movie. Out of the several action movies, I can determine my favorite action movie without much thought. It is a movie that just came out.....Transformers: Dark of the Moon. That movie is pretty much non-stop action and plus, I love the transformers (my favorite is Bumblebee)!

To me, the more the CGI there is, the better is! That is what I base my approval of an action movie. Here is my top 5 action movie:

1. Transformers: Dark of the Moon
2. Transformers
3. Twister (will show up again in Drama post)
4. Day After Tomorrow
5. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen

As you can tell I'm a fan of the more modern action movies and the classic movies, this can really be said for every genre.

Favorite Super-Hero Movie

Just in the past 2-3 years there have been several super-hero movies made from both comic publishers: Marvel & DC Comics. Marvel is currently beating DC Comics in the box office as they have made several more movies than DC Comics. Just this summer alone, Marvel has 3 movies (Thor, Cpt. America, & X-Men: First Class) out this summer and DC Comics has one movie (Green Lantern) out this summer.

I am going to exclude full-length animated movies made by both DC & Marvel. I am also going to exclude super-hero movies that are similar to Watchmen and just focus on the movies based on the more popular characters such as Spider-Man & Batman.

I am more of a fan of Marvel characters than the DC Comic characters but the movies that DC Comics make are produced much better than Marvel movies. The biggest example is Batman Begins & The Dark Knight. If I based off of just the total production of the movie and not the character or super-hero abilities, then I would go with The Dark Knight.

Based on character, my favorite super-hero from DC Comics is Green Lantern and I was a fan of the movie. My favorite super-hero from Marvel is "Gambit" from the X-men and he was featured in X-Men Origins: Wolverine but he didn't have a big part and was a somewhat minor character. I have always enjoyed the X-Men considering they have several mutant powers and each movie showcases something different. I would say that my favorite movie based on character is X-Men: First Class which is an origin movie for Prof. X & Magneto.

So, overall I would have to say that my favorite super-hero movie overall is X-Men: First Class. It was not a typical cheesy super-hero movie and has substance to it. I would say that it is equivalent to The Dark Knight in production quality. It had a very good storyline and was set in the 60s and put a different twist on a major history event, the Cold War. There it is, X-Men: First Class is my favorite Super-Hero Movie.

Wondering what came in second, here is my top 5 super-hero movies:

1. X-Men: First Class
2. The Dark Knight
3. The Green Lantern
4. Iron Man
5. Iron Man 2

This list can change by 2 movies coming out next summer: The Dark Knight Rises (DC) & The Avengers (Marvel).

I have already written some reviews on the movies I have seen. I'm going to go through the following genres and say what are my favorite movie in that genre and then do my all-time favorite movies! Here are the categories:
  • Super-hero Movies
  • Action (excluding super-hero movies) Movies
  • Comedy Movies
  • Drama Movies

Birthday Celebration

Last Sunday was my birthday, in case you didn't know. It was a great birthday!

On Saturday night, a bunch of BCMers went out to eat to Olive Garden and then played Cranium and had cake. Sunday Braden and me went to church and then went to eat at IHOP (my choice). After that we went to go see Bad Teacher....not my favorite movie but it was pretty good. That evening we ordered pizza with Melissa and went to Best Buy. I bought Twister on blu-ray and an IPOD car player.

The celebration didn't end there! On Thursday night a bunch of MET friends went out to eat at Cracker Barrel and I had country fried steak....it was sooooo good!

That ended the celebrations. Great birthday indeed!

Bookstore Move

For the past week and a half the bookstore has been moving into their newly renovated store. The old store (on campus) was all lowered to one level and was expanded in size. The new store features 6 plasma TVs and a new snack area.

It is easier to tell the different departments now, with the softgoods (apparel) department being the biggest department in the store. All of the department got new fixtures and everything now matches. It brings the departments together and shows unity in the store.

A grand opening ceremony will take place in August, when the Fall semester starts. However the store actually opens up July 5th with a "soft" opening....meaning that the interior is done but exterior work is still taking place.

If you are on campus on July 5th, stop by!! The softgoods department has all new shirts, cups, etc!

"Transformers: Dark of the Moon" Review

Transformers: Dark of the Moon starts out great by providing background information for the entire movie. It makes an interesting twist on the first man on the moon landing. After that part it continues with story-telling and it does get a little boring. It ends in a great way.

The movie is full of action and great special effects. There are a lot of plot twists that keep you interested in the movie. It is MUCH better than the 2nd Transformers movie. I thoroughly enjoyed it and will be seeing it again tomorrow night in 3D.

Overall I would give the movie a B+ as the story telling could had been a little better in the end.
