Final Countdown!

The week has finally arrived! The week in which the Avengers comes out!

In approximately 3 days twelve of my closest friends and me will be assembling in Summerville to see the movie! Can. Not. Wait!

That time cannot come soon enough!

Each day leading up to the premiere I am wearing a Marvel t-shirt each day (minus Tuesday since I won't be seeing a lot of people). Last night I wore my new Iron Man t-shirt at the Avengers party I hosted. A great success. Today I am wearing my Captain America and Friends t-shirt which has images of Thor, Iron man, Spiderman, Hulk, and Luke Cage. Wednesday I am wearing the Avengers t-shirt my cousin gave me and then thursday i am wearing my NEW avengers t-shirt, my most favorite.

Yep, going to be a great week!

"Hunger Games" Series Review

I just finished the "Hunger Games" book series that consist of "Hunger Games," "Catching Fire," and "Mockingjay." It is a pretty easy series to read but full of twists and turns.

My favorite book was "Catching Fire" as this is the one book that had the most twists and turns. Not to give anything away in case any of you want to read it but it goes a complete opposite direction that you thought it was going. The last book was pretty predictable. It still had a few moments where you are shocked at what happened.

Overall the book has a  love story but the best thing is that it doesn't completely consume the story and background information. The story focuses more on Katniss trying to discover herself while she is thrown in a brutal world. The scary thing about the books is that it could one day become true. It is very relevant to the world as it is today.

Pretty anxious to see how they bring the last two books to the big screen in the coming years. I would definitely recommend it.

Talking Down

There are several things that bug me in this world. Stupid drivers. Immature people. Etc.

One thing that really, really, really, really, really, really annoys me is when people talk down to me. What makes it worse is that it happens at church. A certain staff member does this to everyone. Before I got a job at Kohls he was keep saying that I wasn't looking hard enough and that I need to apply to certain places. One of those was a company called Boeing here in Charleston. They build airplanes and they mainly look for engineers. Why would I apply for that? Don't be dumb.

This past Wednesday he went to far and I almost hit him. I respect him as an elder but what he said was ridiculous. He was asking what I would be doing at Kohls and I told him a general thing and really didn't want to go into details with him because that would require him to continue talking to me. He then says, "ah they will probably have you cleaning things since I am new." Did you not just hear what I said? I told him what I would be doing and I said nothing about cleaning. Again, don't be dumb. You are probably thinking, "why did this make Sam mad?" Well his next sentence is what made me mad. He said "you do know how to use a vacuum right?" Yea.......he went there. I am 22 years old, about to turn 23 in 6 weeks and he asked if I knew how to operate a vacuum?!?!?!?!?! I said "yea" and then went back to what I was doing. Idiot.

People wonder why I want to leave Ridge. In 5 weeks that will happen! It is sad that I am so excited about leaving a church but that was the last straw. I can last 5 more weeks....I think.

Wild

The last few days have been pretty wild. Monday I hung out with Mom ALL day. We left the house at 11:15 AM and didn't pull into the driveway until 7:00 PM! Normally people would enjoy spending time with their Mom and don't get me wrong, I enjoyed it for the first two hours or so. We went store to store, just shopping. She did take me to BAM but they didn't have what I wanted. After lunch I was ready to go back to the house and just chill. After we finally got home I went over to a friends house around 10 and watched wrestling. It was a 3-hour episode and I was so ready to go to bed. I actually went to sleep while watching it. It was a very boring episode.

Tuesday is when the fun stuff happened. I volunteered at the NWS-CHS from 9 AM to 330 PM! All I did was just shadow a forecaster but it was pretty cool to see how they forecast. Pretty close to how we did it in Synoptic class. During our lunch break I checked my e-mail and facebook and stuff. I received an e-mail from the Department of Navy saying that I my application for Oceanographer was transferred to the hiring officer! This was great news as this means I am one step closer to getting an actual adult job. I believe I have a very good chance in getting this job. After volunteering I just chilled around the house looking forward to a new NCIS.....only problem was there was a replay that night. Ugh. Went to bed pretty early.

Wednesday I got up and cut the grass. After that I worked on the RBC homecoming video. Pretty simple video but it gets the point across. Then went up to the church and to do regular Wednesday activities. There were a few things that bothered me though. A will write a post about it next. After that I went back home and just relaxed.

Today consisted of my cousin's birthday. I started to hang out with around 1 and left about 5 to eat dinner with my Dad and Grandpa at Cracker Barrel. yum! I went to the mall and spent too much money. Bought two comic books, a DVD, and a t-shirt. Now I am writing some blog posts, sipping on sweet tea and watching wrestling.

Doesn't sound so wild but trust me, when you go from doing nothing each day to four full days of activities, it seems very wild.

Today is Not The Day

Yesterday I received a phone call from Kohls saying that my orientation date has been moved from today to May 3rd due to a computer system flaw. Not a huge deal, as I get to enjoy a few more days of freedom. This also means that all the avengers things I have planned are going to happen starting this Sunday with an avengers party and the showing of Captain America.

This is going to be a great party. I am going to go get some avengers plates and possibly an avengers cake! Can't wait.

Back to the actual topic...

So today won't be a busy as originally thought. About to head up to NWS-CHS to do some shadowing. A little tired so hopefully its entertaining or interesting.

Next Three Days

This is not about the movie starring Russel Crowe. This is literally about my next three days. One word: hectic.

Today I am spending the day with Mom doing shopping, which is what we have been doing the past two days she has had off. Then working on a video for the church that is premiering next Sunday and I haven't started on it....oops. After that it is WWE Raw, which is a special 3 hour episode tonight. Unfortunately we are starting at 10 PM....blah.

Tomorrow is the biggest day. I am shadowing at the NWS from 9AM - 4PM and then its back home for a quick bit and then off to Kohl's for orientation from 6:30 PM - 9:30 PM. Going to be the longest day I have had since I graduated in which I am actually doing things.

Wednesday is a so-so day. Mainly spending the day working on the church video then its church that night....assuming I am not working. We have a committee meeting where I am going to present part of the video for reviews and suggestions.

Yep pretty hectic. Mom is coming downstairs which means that my hectic three days are about to begin. Later alligator!

Mediocre Weekend

My weekend in a few sentences...

Friday night hung out with Tim and his family. Ordered pizza and watched The Hulk in preparation for, yep you guessed it, The Avengers (one more week!). Had a very good, interesting conversation with him after the movie. Very personal so for those nosey people out there, I can't talk about it.

Saturday left for Columbia around 7 AM for a day filled of children and partying. Went to the "My Little Pony" party for my niece on this farm. They had tons of animals, so that was pretty entertaining for about 30 minutes. There was nobody there my age so after that it was pretty boring. We left there and went to my nephew's baseball game. Sat with my sister and the place we sat with was the prime spot for foul balls and we almost got hit about 3 times. Left there and went to her house to prepare for the family party. That was pretty good. Left and got home by 10 PM....man I was ready to be home. Finished the day off with some Hunger Games reading.

Sunday was just a normal sunday for the most part. Went to church and then went to over to a friend's parents house. We had roast beef, potatoes, carrots, peas, fruit salad, and blackberry pie. I only liked the first 3 things so I had to force myself to eat the rest. Peas are disgusting. Came home and got in trouble for not telling Mom where I went even though I called twice....when can I move out? Spent the afternoon napping and cleaning for the showing of "Thor" that night. A lot more people came and we had chicken wings, brownies, and other fatty foods....not by my choosing....jaclyn. After that spend some more time reading.

Yep just a mediocre weekend.

Update: Fun Weekend Ahead?

Slight change of plans...

We are still going to Columbia but not spending the night. We are leaving at 7 AM saturday morning. Rough. we are going to pretty much spend the whole day there. I am looking forward to this trip more now that we are not spending the night. So maybe this will be a fun weekend, just have to find something to do tonight!

Fun Weekend Ahead?

This is me hoping that this weekend will be fun. Most of it will be spent in Columbia with my sister. We are going up Friday to watch my nephew play in a baseball game. After that we are spending the night up there. This includes me sleeping in my old bunked bed, in which I out grew years ago.....joyous.

Saturday includes going to another game for my nephew and then it is off to a birthday party for my niece. Sounds fun right? Not when it is a "My Little Pony" party. It is going o be girly and pony-ish. Woohoo...........*sigh*

We come back late Saturday night. Sunday is the usual with church and then we are watching Thor sunday night in preparation for the Avengers....probably going to be the highlight of my weekend.

Hopefully this weekend will be a fun weekend.

What Just Happened?

As I have mentioned time and time again, I am planning an Avengers Premiere event and invited almost 15 people. Today was the deadline to let me know if you were going. We have a group of 11 people going....not bad.

So today I went and picked up the tickets. I asked the group almost 2 weeks ago if they wanted 3D or 2D. One person responded with 2D and the rest said 3D. I am not a huge fan of 3D but I wanted to see this movie in 3D. So I got the tickets for the 3D showing. Took a photo of it and uploaded it to twitter. Man, the feedback was outrageous!

I got a tweet from one person saying "You got all of our tickets right?"

I got a text from another person saying "You got 3D tickets?" I responded with "Yea is that alright?" It was then said "I guess. It's too late now. I thought you said 2D." This is why I don't like planning events. People don't pay attention. It was obviously voted 2-1 for 3D. It is what it is.

I got another text from a person complaining they were invited. Ummm. My bad? He is older gentleman and since I have been back he hasn't spent much interest in what I was doing. Sorry you weren't invited. Go get your own ticket! Haha.

Never thought one little photo could cause such an uproar!

2012 Summer Movies

The summer movie season starts in two weeks with the opening of "The Avengers!" I have my shirt for it and I will be getting the tickets for it today as well! Super excited! However this is just the start. The summer movie season is going to be epic, here is a list of the movies coming out that I want to see based off of their release date order...

  • The Avengers (May 4)
  • Prometheus (June 8)
  • Brave [New Pixar Movie] (June 22)
  • G.I. Joe Retaliation (June 29)
  • Madea's Witness Protection (June 29)
  • The Amazing Spider-Man (July 3)
  • The Dark Knight Rises (July 22)
Will I see all of these? Probably not but a majority of them for sure. Going to have to look into coupons for the movies haha.

Success!

Yesterday around 9:15 AM, I was up at the church working on a new video project and I get a phone call. I think 'hmmm, this is early for an unknown phone call." I pick it up and on the other line is another male. He says, "I am calling on behalf of the Kohls manager and would like to offer you a job!" I immediately say YES! and do a little dance in the balcony of the church. After 4 months, a very long road, I have finally obtained a job that I really wanted. Granted it is not a meteorology job but now I can focus solely on getting that MET job.

I am very happy with this new development. I start on tuesday night with orientation but not sure what my schedule will be.

One of Those Days

Today has been one of those days. If has had its high and lows but a majority of it was a low. Spent the morning working in the heat planting the flowerbed. It looks great but to me it represents my life right now. Just going around doing volunteering work and getting nothing out of it. Going from free gesture to free gesture. It was a good life for about a month but I am ready for change. I am ready for a regular routine. I am ready for a job.

Went to lunch with a friend. It was nice to spend time with just him and and not his kids and wife. Went to a place called "Tattoo Moose" which was alright. We had nice conversation about life in general. The conversation eventually moved toward technology in regards to Apple products. This friend got a girl pregnant out of wedlock and they married and now live in government subsidized apartments. They recently got a iPAD which made me pretty upset. Today I found out that he got the new iphone 4S and is planning on buying one for wife. Fair? I don't think so.

While out with him I got a call, hoping that it was Kohl's telling me that I got the job. It was from the same shopping plaza but a few stores down with Target. I have an interview with them on Friday for a loading/unloading job. Not really what I was looking for but nonetheless it is a job. Got home and found out that a friend obtained a job at Moe's within an hour of having an interview. This is the same Moe's that my "youth pastor" works out. Was I offered a job there? Nope. It sucks that I am about to have interview #9 and he got a job with one interview in one hour. It was quite upsetting and I am still jealous/upset. Patience is running out really quick. I have no motivation to fill out more applications as it seems like a waste of time. Why go to another interview? Why waste the time?

Yep my life is a flowerbed right now. Just doing work for no real reason. And now my Mom wants me to come out work on another flowerbed. I am just overfilled with joy.

What A Weekend!

After a VERY slow week, the weekend went at a good pace and was a blast! It started Friday when I had a very lazy day. I bought the first Hunger Games book in the series and read it one day. Sad I know but the book is great! After that I went and saw the movie. Not a huge fan of the movie but still good and kept pretty close to the book, which is pretty rare these days.

Saturday was spend in the morning with my niece. We worked outside for a few hours and ate grilled hotdogs for lunch. After that I hopped in a bus with roughly six youth and six adults with the church, and went to see Tim Hawkins in concert. Tim Hawkins is a christian comedian that does music parodies and was hilarious. If you get a chance, look him up on youtube. I will try to add some to the blog. Specifically look up, "God Bless Chickfila."

Sunday was sent at church. It was a great message from the pastor from 1 Corinthians about worship. The pastor talked about your attitude when it comes to church. Recently I really had no desire to go to church and so the message struck close to the heart. A lot of thinking going on right now. Might write about it soon. Randall and Mom drove Carolina back home and didn't get back until 9:30 PM. Around 8 I had some people over to watch Iron Man 2, the next movie in our Avengers monthly adventure in which we are rewatching all the movies that lead up to the Avengers movie. We had subs and enjoyed some good conversation. My cousin and his friend bought me an Avengers t-shirt! Oh yeah! The three of us enjoyed some good conversation on the porch for about an hour, only in the South!

Yes, very good weekend! Spending next weekend in Columbia for my niece's birthday....pony birthday. Should be fun!

"Hunger Games" Review

Yesterday I read the first book of the Hunger Games Series and also saw the book. The book was excellent! Obviously since I finished it in one day haha. I think the most fascinating/terrifying part of the book is that it could possibly true one day! In case you don't know, the setting of the book takes place in North America but it has become a very poor North America and has turned into a communist government with a capitol and 12 districts that export certain products. A girl and a boy, ages 12-18, are chosen from each district that go to the Hunger Games in which they face each other to the death for food for their district. Very violent but very well written and thought of.

The movie on the other hand to me was not that good. The pacing was awkward at times. The acting is pretty average and they flow of the story didn't go very well. Overall I think it was hard to move what was on pages, to the big screen. Not saying it was possible but could had been done better in my opinion. Anxious to see how the sequel turns out as they are currently looking for a new director. Maybe a new director will do the next book more justice.

I haven't read the next book yet but plan on buying them next week! Pretty excited!

200th Post!

This is my 200th post for this blog! Should we celebrate? I think so. Party time! Have a good saturday!

Slow Week!

This week is going by sooooo slowly! It has not been a normal week as church activities were cancelled this week due to the academy being on spring break. Weird? Yeah I think so too. Anyways, when I usually go up to the church on regular days, I have had to find other stuff to do. Not a very difficult task but can be challenging. Been filling up the time with working in the yard on that flower bed. It is coming along nicely as I am mostly finished. Have one tiny section left and then it is time to play some flowers!

I have also been working on the BCM year-end video. I produced the first draft the other day and sent it to Braden for a first review. Came back with a good review, and some final editing must take place before it is finalized. It will be finished on time, which is the most important thing at this point.

Another reason this week is going so slow is because of Randall. He is home for spring break for the entire and week and the man drives me crazy! He is 70 years old but acts like he is 100 years old. Does everything sooo slowly and is completely socially awkward. Yesterday I was sitting in the living room and heard him come back and open the garage door. Heard him messing with the door but didn't think anything of it. Saw him walking the backyard. Twenty minutes later the doorbell rings and I walk to the door and it is him. He locked himself out of the house! How is that possible?! You just left and had to grab car keys. This is literally the tip of the iceberg (not related to the iceberg that sunk the Titanic 100 years ago), and I assure you that you would be laughing if I told all the stories of Randall.

So yeah, that is my week thus far. Ready for this week to be over!

New Reading Material

Not really a huge fan of shopping but for some reason was in the mood for it today. Went to the local mall....nothing too special about it. I really went to buy the #1 volume of the "Avengers vs X-Men" comic book series. Good stuff! Favorite superhero group, Avengers, and second favorite superhero group, X-Men, in one series.....righteous! Great comic book, waiting for the next volume to come out next week! Anyways, back to the story.

So I went shopping. Checked out a bunch of stores. Looked for an Avengers t-shirt. Found one at Spencer's but that is a very raunchy store and I really don't want to give them my money. There was another store called Hot Topics that is a little more clean than Spencer's but they are in the process of moving to a new unit :/ Hopefully I find another t-shirt before May 4th! I also went into Family Christian Bookstore and bought Crazy Love. One book I always wanted to get. Last stop of my little adventure was Books-A-Million where I bought the comic book and decided to pick up Hunger Games as well. Pretty excited about starting the two books.

Saw a person from high school who was in the Front Ensemble with me. We were never great friends and and she was eating so I decided to not bother her. Never a dull moment in the mall!

Minor Setback

In my quest for obtaining an iPAD, there has been a minor set back. Viggle, an app where you check into TV shows and earn rewards points, removed the $25 gift card reward off of their rewards list. Therefore I am now $25 set back from what I had.

Here is a quick update:

BB Reward Zone: $180
Change Jar: $141
_______________________
Total: $321.00

Goal: $400

Progress: 80% Completed

However, should probably add $39.99 to the goal as I will need to buy a case as well. Update everything and...

Goal: $440

Progress: 73% Completed

Rant

WARNING: This post is going to be mainly me ranting about stuff, so if you don't want to hear it, don't read this post. Also, I am pretty pissed off right now so there might be language. You have been warned.

First thing is....why do people you really don't talk to try to reconnect but don't put effort into it? Here is the situation: A friend from 8th grade kind of went off the grid and our friendship kind of fell apart with a bunch of drama. I tried several times to keep it up with this person by contacting him/her when I got back from Alabama so we could hang out and usually nothing came back. Fast forward to graduation. This person didn't come to the ceremony which is understandable but I had a party a few weeks later in which this person said they were coming. Did they come? Nope. I was whatever about it. Somehow we both got new phones and the phone numbers were not transferred so we reconnecting through facebook in which it consisted of us sending phone numbers to each other. On March 24. Fast forward to today (April 9) and get a text saying "Sam!" Sent a text back with this person's name. No response. So why in hell are you trying to reconnect when you are not going to put any more effort into it. I spent 3 1/2 years trying to reconnect and now you want to reconnect....after I been in Charleston for 4 months! WTH! Don't expect any effort from me, as I already tried.

Next rant is about hanging out. I have been back in Charleston for 4 months and I still haven't found a core group. You are probably thinking that I have gone down this road. Yea I have! I haven't found that core group yet. In college there was a group that I could call up and we could do anything and everything we wanted and when we wanted. Here it is hit and miss. Here are the groups:
  • Church Group - All of them are engaged, married, or have kids.
  • High School Friends - HA! See paragraph above. Three of them I really keep up with and they live in Columba at college.
  • Old Church Friends - People who have left Ridge. Slacking in motivation and have babies
  • Family - Cousins are hit and miss....especially one of them

What am I going to do about it? To start in the coming two weeks I am going to start visiting new churches, churches that offer a better singles program than my current church.

That's enough ranting for one night.

Morning Routine

I have come up with a daily morning routine that will continue to occur over the next few days. It is all about drawings and prizes!

The full routine started officially yesterday. I wake up and get on the laptop and go to parade.com/avengers and fill out the form to win a trip to the N.Y.C. red carpet premiere of The Avengers! :D I would die if I won this trip. After that I go to the WWE site and fill out a form for an all paid trip to Wrestlemania 29 in NYC/NJ next April! I'm pretty sure I would die from winning this trip as well. I am feeling really lucky today for some reason so maybe I will actually win!

This morning I added a new objective that will last for the rest of the week. A local radio station, 95SX, is giving away free tickets to the WWE Smackdown World Tour, for when it comes to Charleston in May. They are giving away tickets at 7 AM and 4 PM everyday this week. Hopefully I can win those. It would be pretty sweet!

Lots of sweepstakes!

Interview #7

Is this #7 or #8? I have lost count now.

The point is that I had an interview this morning at Kohl's and I thought it went really well! The bookstore experience I have seems to have finally paid off as the job I would be doing is very similar to what I was doing at the store. The position is a sort of management position and computer position which I am completely fine with. They didn't give me a time frame but they said they would let me know about the job no matter what.

I have a really good feeling about this one but as I mentioned before, no matter what I will be pleased. Trying not to raise my expectations so they don't get broken.....again. Will update when I hear something!

Funny Tweets

I am on twitter (@samswindler) and I recently started to follow this account called "America's Favorite", which I saw Erika Conn retweet something from the account and thought it was hilarious. Basically the account is also one or two line jokes and some of the tweets are hilarious. Most of the tweets are sarcasm tweets in which some of the things I want to say sometimes. Here are a few of the tweets...

"That moment when your siting in the movies getting ready to watch an awesome film when all of a sudden a human giraffe sits in front of you."

"I got 99 chores and I ain't did one - Lay Z"

"'Hey, what's up?' 'Gas prices' 'You know what I mean, like...What's cracking?' 'Nutshells' 'Really? Fine... What's poppin?' 'Corn''

"I stay up late every night and realize it was a bad idea every morning."

"If I have 10 chocolate cakes & someone asks me for 1, how many chocolate cakes do I have left? That's right 10."

"In movies when people go underwater, I like to hold my breath and see if I would survive in that situation. I died in Finding Nemo."

"STUDENT + DYING = STUDYING"

Funny stuff indeed!

Planning

I have been planning events (hangout times, parties, etc.) for a while. It runs through my veins as my mom is a natural planner. Recently certain people have been complaining because I didn't invite to them events such as the Avengers Premiere but I invited their boyfriend, or significant other. First of all, grow up. Secondly if you are engaged to somebody then it is implied. This was brought up again today. I didn't let it bother me as much this time though.

Through planning so many events I have learned that you cannot please everybody. Tonight we are watching a movie pretty late, 1015, and some couldn't come because it was too late and they couldn't find a babysitter for their kids. The kid issue is a WHOLE different blog post which I will not write about, but the time I could not help as one of the people who has not seen the movie didn't get off until 10. We are watching Iron Man 1 in preparation for the Avengers movie! Needless to say, it will a fun time no matter who/who doesn't shows up!

3rd, 5th, 7th, 11th

I have noticed lately that I been hanging around a lot of couples....usually being the 3rd or 5th wheel. For some couples it is not that bad, but for others it is kind of awkward. Like last night, a group of us went to go see Titanic 3D (gag me) and it was me, my cousin and his girlfriend, another friend and his potential girlfriend. So here I am with with two (potentially) couples watching this movie about love. Kind of awkward. In some instances I have been the 5th and even the 7th wheel!! Made me start to think...

Why? Why can't I find that right girl? Why do I hang around couples and not single people?

On top of this, I started to realize that I have been involved in some way another, of connecting two people that are still dating and will eventually and marry. It seems that I am better at hooking people up but not at keeping a relationship of my own. Why? I wish I knew. If I knew I would change. I am not freaking out as I am only turning 23 and some people don't get married until 30 so I am still pretty good. Still thinking about it though. Thank you Titanic.

Wrestlemania: End of An Era

This past weekend was Wrestlemania in Miami, FL, and it was a great show! One match in particular was the best to me and that was HHH vs. The Undertaker, a matched dubbed, "An End of an Era" as both wrestlers were from the 80s and 90s and were the last two wrestlers still wrestling today that were from that era. HHH has been pretty much moved on to management positions of the WWE and The Undertaker is getting up there in age and will most likely retire very soon.

The Undertaker won the match and went 20-0 at Wrestlemania. A record that nobody is even close to beating. The match was great and brought out the emotion of those there and those watching. Right when you think it is about the end, one of the wrestlers break the pinfall and the match continues. Words cannot really describe the match.A truly classic match that will never be forgotten.

The Avengers

I mentioned in an earlier post ("Thought of the Evening") the things I do to entertain myself and The Avengers popped up. I am a superhero geek as I have seen every single superhero movie that has come out and read articles almost daily about movies coming out. For those who don't know, there are two major comic brands....Marvel and DC. Here is a slight breakdown of what superheroes belong to what brand:

Marvel
Cpt. America
Iron Man
Thor
Hulk
Spiderman
Fantastic 4
X-Men

DC
Batman
Superman
Wonder Woman
Green Lantern
Flash

I am mainly a Marvel fan, but do like one or two DC superheroes. My ALL time favorite superhero is actually a group of several superheroes called The Avengers. The group has changed over the past few years through the comics but the initial group consists of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor, Hulk, plus a few more minor characters. If you have been paying attention to movies then you will realize that those four characters have had their own movies (Iron Man had two). These movies have led up to the Avengers movie coming out May 4th! I am all about this movie!

I read articles almost every day about the movie and have watched the trailer about ten times! No matter what I will be seeing the movie at midnight on May 3rd and I am getting a group to go see it with me. To lead up to the movie, this group is getting together to watch all 5 of the movies that lead up to the Avengers, starting with Iron Man 1 this week. The only thing that I have left to do is get my Avengers t-shirt for the premiere! :D

Charleston, SC

Today Jaclyn flew in Charleston and Fred picked her up and we met for dinner for catch up. It was fun and nice mini-visit from friends. One of the first friends to visit South Carolina since I moved back. We started to talk a little about the life of charleston and some of the tourist sites. It started to make me think...

I am truly blessed to be living here in Charleston, SC! The city is beautiful and full of culture and history. The city itself has such a rich history dating back to the American Revolution and the city tourism is built off of that history. There is a story behind most of the buildings, and a story behind even the smallest pebble in the middle of the road. There is so much to see/visit in Charleston and I think sometimes that those who live here, including myself, take the city for granted as just another city but it is more than that!

This is an open invitation to any of my followers. Come visit to Charleston and I will show you around this great city, any time!

Got'v -> Private -> Academic

Trying to find that meteorology job that utilizes my education. Tough with no experience. Been filling out applications with the federal government in over 14 states! Recently moved to applying to private sector. Private sector, just as the government, wants people with experience. I am now considering going into the academic field with my degree. Technically I am qualified to teach middle school science and I know at least two people who have gone down that route and seem to enjoy it. Would I be a good teacher though?

Decisions, decisions, decisions.

Thought of the Evening

There are a lot of thoughts going through my mind tonight but one in particular keeps popping up.

As we grow up, our interests change based off experiences we have. They can easily change from middle school to high school to college. College is really when we change, or develop, into who we will be as adults. We use these interests to fill up our days during free time. This is where my thought comes in. When I graduated and moved back to Charleston, I wondered how life would go on without me (not trying to sound conceited). For example, I hung out my best friend Micah a LOT and I started to wonder who he would hang out with now. What does he do day-to-day. How do people fill their day up besides just work? For college students it is filled up with school work no doubt. What about adults....particularly young adults? I am talking about the less normal stuff besides watching TV or movies.

I started to look at my life and see what I do to fill up my day. One of the biggest thing currently is anything and everything involving the Avengers! In case you haven't heard, a the summer movie season starts off with The Avengers (not going to blog about it right now but soon). This includes reading articles, checking out photos, and recently reading the comic books based on the group. Other things I do include weather-related activities, and doing yard work.

Not really a deep thought but something I have been thinking of recently. So what do you do out of the norm that fills up your day?

Video Skill

Ever since high school I have been making videos for different organizations, family friends, and family in general. I took this "skill" with me to college and started to do videos for the BCM. Four years later I am going to present my last video for the BCM. I have been working on and off of it for 6 months! I am waiting for the last few events to occur, mainly the event called "Bridge Week" that is happening this week, so I can finish up the video. This video has the sense of closure and I am VERY pleased with it.

Every video I did contained something new. Here is a breakdown of what I added:

2008-2009: First video. Nothing too special.
2009-2010: Added video credits which included people dancing
2010-2011: Added "RMs Uncut"....a special video added to the end in honor of the RMs at the time
2011-2012: I can't say..........will find out soon! :p

Needless to say, the video titled, "2011-2012: The Legacy Lives On" will be presented on time on April 27th!

On top of the BCM video, I am also doing a video for Ridge Baptist Church. The church is celebrating its 140th anniversary this year and have several celebrations planned. One of those events is homecoming at the end of this month. I am obtaining video from past homecomings and putting them together to produce a 10 min video to commemorate homecoming and the 140th anniversary.

Lot of videos going on but I am enjoy doing it! The weekend of April 27 is going to be a big one for me with two video premieres.

Good Day

Today has been a pretty good day! My mom is paying me $200 to convert half of the yard to a flower bed in the front yard. The problem is that there use to a tree here and there are roots everywhere. The good thing  about it though is that they have all dry rotted and come up easily. So this morning I started to work on it and put in about 3 1/2 hours into it and stopped right when it was going to get hot. It was a lot of getting into the dirt and getting dirt all over the place. It felt good though to do some work and be active.

After I wrapped it up for the day I came in and took a shower and went straight to Sonic! Had a grilled chicken wrap and cherry limeade.....so good! After finished devouring that I took a nap. Then I had an interview with Verizon Wireless and this was  different one than the other six interviews. It was done over the phone from a lady in Charlotte, NC and last about 5 minutes. Thought it went pretty well. The lady said I would find out about the job in 5 days in which I would go into the store and do a face-to-face interview. So hopefully this is the one!

I am now watching "Let's Make A Deal," and waiting for Mom to get home with dinner. Then watching some NCIS!
