Interview #6 Update

In case you have been following, you are probably wondering how I was talking about interview #5 a few days ago and now I'm talking about interview #6. Well read as the previous posts that say #5 really say #6 because I completely forgot about an interview I had at the beginning of this now, 4 month process, so the latest interview is #6.

The interview for the SCDOT went alright. It was for a sign crew position in which I would go around and replace signs. Not really what I was looking for but I took the interview anyways as the pay would be good ($10/hr). They started to ask about my experience....oh boy. I have little to NONE experience in that type of field. I am the one that does not go to Lowe's and shop around and geek out over tools. Tools are boring. They asked about 4-5 questions in regards if I have used a certain tool and I said no to each one. Not good. The guy I would be working with was just shaking his head....Mr. I have been with the DOT for 25 years. Just keep shaking your head. I rebounded though when they asked why I was the best candidate and I told them that obviously I didn't have the experience but was willing to learn. You know the good ole, let me say something nice answer. Needless to say I probably won't get the job. I have a 25% chance of getting it as there were 4 interviewees, as I saw the list on the secretary's desk. We shall see.

In other news, Randall is taking a "sick" day today. Which means he is going to walk around the house and stare out of windows and get in my way. He moves soooo slowly and stands in doorways.....blah. Luckily I get to take my cousin to the airport so I'll be gone at noon until 3 when Mom gets home!

One last thing. I am beginning to apply to the private sector for meteorology jobs. Just applied to a job in California for a PT forecaster. The fun part, I can do the job in SC! Score. Thank you AMS for sending me your BAMS magazine! Woohoo!

  1. Just wanted you to know that my eyes became huge when I read "California." So glad that you put the little tid-bit about working from the homefront. Whew. Good luck!!
